Program Details Ages: 3–5 years Class Length: 30 minutes Format: Child-only class (parents/caregivers do not enter the water) Program Overview Junior Swim School is designed for preschool-aged swimmers who are ready to participate in swim lessons independently. For many children, this is their first experience entering the pool without a parent, so instruction focuses on building comfort, confidence, and water familiarity. Skills Taught Instruction progresses at each child’s pace and may include: Getting face and hair wet Front and back floats Kicking and scooping Jumping in from the pool edge Retrieving underwater objects The final five minutes of each class are dedicated to supervised games and fun time. Important Notes Parent Observation: Parents and caregivers may observe from the pool deck. This “without parent” format helps reduce distractions and allows instructors to maintain focus for a productive learning environment. Families wishing to be in the water with their child should consider our Water Babies program. Instructor Information: Most instructors are high school or college students who enjoy working with children. Many are swimmers or pursuing careers in education or early childhood development. Instructor requests cannot be accommodated for group lessons. Goggles Policy: Goggles are not recommended for Junior Swim School. Opening eyes underwater is an important skill at this level. Safety & Participation Expectations To participate in group lessons, children must be able to: Stay with their group Follow directions from aquatic staff Remain safely above water while waiting their turn (sitting on the ledge, standing on in-water risers, or staying in designated shallow areas) Children who are unable to meet these expectations, require excessive one-on-one attention, or disrupt group safety may be removed from the class and issued a prorated refund. Private lessons may be recommended as an alternative. Refund Policy Last day to request a refund: June 8
