Privacy Policy

Version 2.0 — Last updated: April 13, 2026

Introduction

Anjou ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Anjou website at anjou.app and the Anjou mobile application (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Platform.

Anjou is an activity discovery platform designed for parents and caregivers to find kids' activities, camps, and classes. The Platform is not intended for use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Email address and name when you create an account through the mobile app.
  • Child profiles: First name, date of birth, activity preferences (energy level, development goals, temperament), schedule availability, budget preferences, and zip code. This information is provided by the parent or guardian and is used solely for activity recommendations.
  • Saved activities: Activities you save or dismiss within the app.
  • Custom activities: Activity names, locations, schedules, and categories you manually add to your schedule.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, search queries, and interactions with the Platform (e.g., activities viewed, saved, or dismissed; schedule preferences; click-throughs to provider websites).
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, device model, and screen resolution.
  • Location data: Zip codes entered for activity searches. If you choose to use the "Use My Location" feature, we access your device's GPS at low accuracy solely to determine your zip code. GPS coordinates are not stored or transmitted to our servers.
  • Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect a device token to deliver notifications. This token is deleted when you log out or delete your account.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide personalized activity recommendations based on your child's age, preferences, and availability.
  • Display relevant activity results based on your location.
  • Save your preferences and activity selections.
  • Improve our recommendation algorithms and Platform experience.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the Platform.
  • Send push notifications about activity updates, if you opt in.
  • Communicate important updates about the Platform.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform:

  • Auth0: For secure user authentication in the mobile app. Auth0 processes your email and login credentials. See Auth0's Privacy Policy.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): For data storage and API hosting. Data is stored in the US-East-1 (Virginia) region.
  • Vercel: For website hosting and delivery.
  • Sentry: For error monitoring and crash reporting in the mobile app. Sentry receives error details, device information, and a pseudonymous user identifier to help us diagnose issues. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google): For delivering push notifications to the mobile app. Firebase receives a device token and platform type. No personal data or message content is shared with Google. See Firebase Privacy Information.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data with activity providers to help them understand demand.

Activity information displayed on Anjou is sourced from third-party providers. When you click through to a provider's website, you are subject to that provider's privacy policy.

Analytics and Cookies

On our website, analytics tracking is off by default and only enabled when you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected.

Website Analytics

  • PostHog: Product analytics to understand how parents use our site. Collects anonymous behavioral events (pageviews, searches, clicks). No personally identifiable information is collected. Data retained for 12 months.
  • Google Analytics 4: Measures search traffic and SEO performance. Collects anonymous data including pages visited, referral sources, and device type. Data retained for 14 months.

Mobile App Analytics

The mobile app uses first-party analytics (no third-party tracking SDKs). We collect behavioral events such as activities viewed, saved, or dismissed; search queries; schedule interactions; and click-throughs to provider websites. These events are associated with your user ID and, where relevant, child profile IDs to provide personalized recommendations. Events are batched on your device and sent to our own servers — no data is shared with third-party analytics providers. Mobile analytics data is retained for 12 months and is deleted when you delete your account.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States (Virginia). We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS) and secure authentication tokens. Authentication credentials are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage.

If you enable biometric authentication (Face ID or fingerprint), the app stores a refresh token in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). This token persists across logout to enable seamless re-authentication. Your biometric data itself is never accessed, collected, or transmitted by Anjou — biometric verification is handled entirely by your device's operating system. You can disable biometric login at any time from the Profile tab, which removes the stored token.

Data Retention

  • Account data and child profiles: Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where required by law.
  • Mobile app analytics events: Retained for 12 months, then automatically purged. All events associated with your account are deleted when you delete your account.
  • Push notification tokens: Deleted when you log out or delete your account.
  • Biometric refresh tokens: Stored locally on your device. Removed when you disable biometric login or delete the app.

Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Update your account information and child profiles at any time through the app.
  • Delete your child profiles from the Profile tab, or request full account deletion by contacting us.
  • Opt out of analytics tracking on our website via the cookie consent banner.
  • Manage push notification preferences through your device's system settings or within the app.
  • Disable biometric authentication from the Profile tab, which removes the locally stored refresh token.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@anjou.app.

Children's Privacy

Anjou is designed with children's privacy in mind. Our Platform is intended for use by parents and guardians, not children. Children do not have their own accounts and cannot use the app independently.

What child data we collect

When you create a child profile, we collect the following information that you provide:

  • First name (optional)
  • Age (in months)
  • Zip code
  • Activity preferences (energy level, max drive time)
  • Schedule availability (days and time windows)
  • Budget preferences (optional)

How we use child data

This information is used solely to generate personalized activity recommendations for your child in your area. We do not share your child's information with third parties, use it for advertising, or sell it.

Parental verification process

When you create an Anjou account, we send a verification email to your address containing a notice of our data practices and a link to confirm your identity. You must click this link before you can create any child profiles. Additionally, each child profile creation requires you to affirm parental consent.

How to exercise your parental rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to review, update, or delete your child's information at any time:

  • Review: Open the app, go to the Profile tab, select your child's profile, and tap "Manage Data" to see all stored information.
  • Update: Tap any field in the child's profile to edit it.
  • Delete: From "Manage Data," tap "Delete All Data" and confirm. The child's profile and all associated data will be permanently removed.
  • Revoke consent: From "Manage Data," tap "Revoke Consent." This deletes the child's profile and stops all further data collection for that child.
  • Delete account: From Profile > Settings, tap "Delete Account" to remove your account and all child profiles. Server-side deletion completes within 30 days.

You may also exercise these rights by contacting us at privacy@anjou.app. We will respond within 48 hours.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@anjou.app so we can promptly delete it.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • The right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Note: we do not sell personal information.
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at hello@anjou.app.

Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date and, for mobile app users, through an in-app notification.
