Our Jr. Counselor in Training program is a four-day session for teens to learn how to lead and plan camp activities, implement safety procedures, and understand the benefits of working in a team environment. This program is designed to help participants develop self-esteem, confidence, and the ability to assume responsibility. Whether your teen is considering a camp counselor position, babysitting, or other "first job" opportunities, this program provides a valuable training experience. Upon completion of the program, students who wish to be considered for a position with the BPD must go through a formal interview process. If Jr. C.I.T. completes the interview process successfully, he/she will be placed at a camp to volunteer for one week of the summer. Participants attending the C.I.T program are not guaranteed a volunteer aide position at one of the district's summer camps. Therefore, if you need full day care, please register for Teen Breakout Camp. For more information, call Kent Hengels at (847) 304-5273.
