Parking Lot
The historic site of the old Joliet prison is just begging to be explored. This is just what you will do if you join us on this trip. We will get a 90-minute indoor and outdoor guided tour. This tour talks about the general history of the site from when it was first opened in 1858 until its closure in 2002. This historic tour is a great introduction to the prison and its history while you explore the West Cell House, North Segregation, Cafeteria and other buildings as available. You will have worked up quite an appetite after that and where better to fill up than the traditional family-style Buca di Beppo. We will have bread, salad, spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmigiana and dessert. Coffee, tea, and soda are included. Extensive and uneven walking is involved with this trip. The prison will have some seating available, but the terrain is rough and uneven. Transportation is by Park District bus. Registration deadline is April 22 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
