The AARP Smart Driver Course consists of two, 4-hour days, and is geared as a refresher for motorists age 50 and older, however any licensed driver may attend. The class covers much of the information needed to pass the Illinois State license exam. It also reviews the eyesight, hearing, and physical changes that drivers experience as they age. Also included are safer driving habits, how to avoid driving hazards, changes in roadway conditions, and safety equipment on your automobile. There is also a discussion on when to consider driver retirement. This is a new and updated curriculum being taught, with up to date audio and visual materials. Completion of the 2-day class may entitle the participant to a discount on their auto insurance. Please check with your insurance carrier for further details. If a member, please bring your AARP card to class. You must register in person.
