Tae Kwon-Do is the most widely practiced martial arts in the world. The Midwest Academy Tae Kwon-Do program develops focus, confidence, self-control, discipline and respect for others. Students work on anti-bullying, how to de-escalate a potential threat, and if needed, how to defend themselves. We strive to create a supportive, fun and very challenging environment for our students. Classes are taught by Grandmaster Dan Valin, 9th Degree Black Belt, Aaron Hadesman, 6th Degree Black Belt, and our staff of certified instructors. We offer children, teen, and adult classes! Families are encouraged to train together! Beginning students through 1 year of training (Yellow Belt), will be taught and excel in fundamental techniques: stances, strikes, kicks, basic self-defense, fundamental exercises and the first 3 patterns in the ITF TKD system. Intermediate students with 1 - 4 years of training (Green Stripe to Red Stripe), will develop additional skills and higher-level techniques in striking, kicks, patterns, sparring, self-defense, breaking. Jiu-Jitsu and Hapkido are also into the curriculum at the intermediate level. Advanced students with 4+ years of training (Red Belt to Black Belt) will learn the importance of dedication and hard work honing and mastering their skills and techniques. Uniforms, test fees, and equipment are handled with The Midwest Academy of Tae Kwon-Do. For more information, contact TJ Wilkes at 847.850.2199 or twilkes@bgparks.org.
