This structured soccer league gives children the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer while learning about teamwork and good sportsmanship. All levels are coed. The league consists of one weekday practice and six weekend games. Practice days and times vary based on the availability of volunteer coaches. All players must have a set of Wheeling Park District Jerseys to participate. Jerseys can be purchased at Guest Services if player does not have a jersey from previous season(s). Volunteer coaches are needed for all age groups. Please sign up to coach a team at the time of registration or email jhandelsman@wheelingparkdistrict.com for more details. The Youth Soccer League focuses on player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game. Each season includes: -Weekly Practices: Led by trained volunteer coaches focusing on skill-building, teamwork, and confidence. -Weekend Games: Friendly matchups emphasizing fun and fair play. -Player Development: Core soccer fundamentals like dribbling, passing, shooting, positioning, and game awareness. -Team Spirit: Every child plays and contributes, regardless of skill level or experience. Age Divisions -Kindergarten COED -1st/2nd Grade COED -3rd/4th Grade COED -5th/6th Grade COED Season Details Duration: April 11th - May 16th Location: Heritage Park Soccer Basin and Horizon Park Game Days: Saturdays between 9am - 3pm Practice Schedule: Determined by the availability of the volunteer coach League Soccer Jerseys - sold at the front desk at the Community Recreation Center for $22. Each child will receive two jerseys. Medals will be given out to each participant End of season celebration Volunteer Opportunities Parents and guardians are encouraged to get involved as coaches, assistant coaches, or team managers.
