Letters to America is a citywide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States by creating space for civic reflection and storytelling. Chicago Public Library invites residents to write personal letters to America - sharing reflections, critiques, hopes, and stories rooted in Chicago experiences. Join us at Canaryville Branch to share Chicago stories, history, memories, and hopes for the future. We'll have time to write letters at the branch, but you can also take your ideas and inspiration home to write your letter. If you don't want to write a letter, but still want to join in the conversation, no worries, we'd love to have you. After August 31, all letters will be transferred to the Northside Neighborhood History Collection at Sulzer Regional Library to become part of the Letters to America Collection. All letters must be accompanied by a Deed of Gift and we can only accept letters from people 18 and older.
