Pond to podium, Speedskating has been called "NASCAR on Ice" - it's a sport where skaters of all ages can experience the thrill of speed and the camaraderie of the skating community. At 91 medals and counting, US Speedskating has won more Olympic medals than any other Winter Olympic sport. The Northbrook Speed Skating Club sent athletes to every Winter Olympics for 70 years and in that time span won more Olympic medals than any other Club in US Speedskating. Learn in this class how "getting low," crossovers and proper weight transfer bring power and speed to each stroke. Coaches will also cover the basic skills needed to race! Skaters may be in figure skates, hockey skates or speedskates. Helmet and gloves are required.
