If you like to go fast on the ice, then speedskating is for you! This class follows the Learn to Speed Skate curriculum of Learn Skate USA, so skaters should be at or above Learn to Skate Basic 4 when they begin. Skaters will be introduced to the basics of speed skating, with an emphasis on basic position, straightaway pushes, cornering and starts. These are the skating skills necessary to join the Northbrook Speed Skating Team and begin racing. Skaters may use figure skates, hockey skates or speed skates which are available for rent. Skaters must wear helmet and gloves.
