This practical class takes your garden experience to the next level. You’ll learn how to enjoy your harvest well into the winter months, without stress or wasted food. You’ll discover easy, time-saving ways to preserve common vegetables for when life is busy and your garden is producing more than you can use all at once. We’ll walk through simple methods for preserving extra harvests of tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens, and herbs using techniques like freezing and drying. (This class does not cover the time-consuming process of canning.) You’ll learn how to turn peak harvest season, when you suddenly have more tomatoes than you know what to do with, into a season of abundance instead of overwhelm. We’ll even cover how to preserve lettuce so it keeps for weeks. This class is perfect for intermediate gardeners who are growing successfully and are ready to stop wasting the food they worked so hard to grow. You’ll leave with a simple guide to take home and reference, along with your own herb bundle to dry, so you can start preserving right away.
