PREREQUISITE: Successfully master skills of Pre-Alpha 2 and Below. Step-by-step progression of skills makes learning fun while improving the skater’s confidence on ice. The mastery of these basic skills is required before moving on to higher levels of achievement, and it can take more than one semester to pass each level. Upon completion of these levels, skaters can advance to more specialized skating areas. Alpha 1+2 instruction includes forward stroking, forward crossovers- right over left + left over right, one-foot snowplow stop, and backward swizzle. EQUIPMENT: Regular Skates are STRONGLY recommended. Gloves and a knit hat or helmet are also recommended.
