GET IN THE GAME THIS FALL: Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league empathizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and FUN. Volunteer Coaches: This league is dependent on volunteer coaches for each team. If you are interested in coaching a team you can contact Andy at adunfee@bartlettparks.org. Volunteer coaching forms can be found at bartlettparks.org. We do ask that no more than two coaches per team for grades 5th - 8th grade. Uniforms: Each player will be provided a reversible jersey. Team jerseys must be worn at all games and coaches may encourage players to wear the reversible jersey at practice. Practices: Practices will take place at Bartlett Community Center or at a U-46 School District School. Practices will be one night a week at least two weeks prior to the first games. Practices will be assigned by the volunteer coach. Games: Games will be played Friday – Sunday at Bartlett Community Center or a surrounding community if the league is in an inter-village league (Past years girls basketball grades 3rd – 8th participated in an inter-village league). Team Formation for Grades 1st – 4th Teams are formed by Bartlett Park District staff based on the following criteria: • School Attended • Balance of Gender (if co-ed) • Roster Size • Mutual carpool/Friendship request Our goal is to keep players from the same school on the same team. Should enrollment number and roster maximums not accommodate the schools may be combined to form teams. Team maximums are based on enrollment numbers at the time of the registration deadline. Evaluation Nights and Team Formation process for Grades 5th–8th • Players enrolled in grades 5th – 8th grade will be asked to attend an evaluation night. Those nights will be posted below each registration ID#. • Teams will be chosen by a coach’s draft, with all players being placed on a team. If a player cannot attend the evaluation night, they will be placed on a team in a blind draw at the conclusion of the draft. • Volunteer coaches must attend the evaluation night. The draft will take place the same night as the evaluation night.
