Robert Crown Gym
Counselor in Training (CIT) Camp prepares teens to work with staff and contribute their talents to the programs offered at the Robert Crown Community Center. Participants serve as role models for the younger children, and receive weekly training from a variety of social service professionals and mentors. The program builds community and prepares youth to work with children in a variety of settings. CIT participants receive basic training on a range of topics: effective engagement, behavior management, communication, team work, safety procedures and more. Senior staff evaluate and mentor the participants throughout the four-week program and provide a final evaluation. After training and observations, CIT participants will be assigned to volunteer at camp, based on an interview and personal interests, while also receiving training on the various topics listed above. Volunteer options include Fun Factory (ages 5-7), or Kid City (ages 7-10). Volunteers are expected to participate in the program Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm for the entire four-week period. Volunteers may speak with the Camp Director to adjust their schedule if necessary. The registration fee includes training and supplies, field trips, and small group activities.
