The Jazz Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Park District present: Jazz City Featuring The Aggregation feat. Justin Dillard Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Justin Dillard is a premier organist and pianist whose work bridges the gap between jazz tradition and the avant-garde. A protégé of the Velvet Lounge and a student of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), Dillard has shared the stage and recording studio with legends such as Branford Marsalis, Roscoe Mitchell, and the late Von Freeman. Described by the Chicago Tribune as one of the most promising improvisers of his generation, Dillard is known for a virtuosic, "all over the keyboard" style that draws inspiration from masters like Dr. Lonnie Smith and McCoy Tyner. Through his ensemble, The Aggregation, Dillard continues to shape Chicago’s contemporary sound, blending technical mastery with a relentless quest for new musical ideas. 6:30 PM - Jazz Links Ensemble 7:00 PM - The Aggregation feat.
