The Rockford Park District, in partnership with Alderwoman Gabrielle Torina, presents 5th Ward Walkers, a community - centered walking initiative designed to bring residents together through movement and connection. Open to all community members, this program is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: we can build stronger communities by moving together. Hosted at the Clarence Hicks Sports Complex, this initiative activates a premier public asset while creating an inviting, consistent space for residents, especially seniors, to engage in physical activity, build relationships, and prioritize their health in a supportive and welcoming environment. Each session will feature a unique music theme to create an energetic and engaging atmosphere, while incorporating light stretching, self-paced group walking, community connections, special guest appearances and community partners, and light snacks and hydration, while encouraging participation and making each week feel intentional and fresh.
